LiaisonMission: To encourage unity within the language services industry by maintaining communication and cooperation with other national and international associations.
The Liaison Committtee maintains relationships with other domestic and international language industry organizations with similar goals.
Current associate organizations are:
European Union of Associations of Translation Companies The EUATC is a well-established association of language company associations representing each of up to 25 European countries and working in coopertion with the EU. The EUATC has offered to the ALC on several occasions since its founding documents from the various country associations related to laguage services quaity standards. Association of Translation Companies, UK The ATC assisted in the original developemtn of the ALC with information, policy documentation and general advice from many years of experience.
Association of Canadian Companies in Translation and Interpretation The ACCTI was also very helpful with advice and informational materials offfered to the ALC as it was initially developed.
European Lanuage Industry Association Established in 2005, the ELIA is comprised of European language services companies and was modeled after the ALC.
American Translators Association The ATA and ALC are currently working cooperatively on several issues of mutual benefit to our associations and to the industry as a whole.
International Corporate Language Council Founded in 2004, the ICLC brings together representatives of the coporate side of the language industry to address mutual goals and concerns. The ICLC has not yet been formalized as an incorporated body.
Globalization and Localization Association Similar to the ALC, with broad international membership, GALA promotes language services and language techmology.
Federation Internationale des Traducteurs FIT is primarily an assocition of individual linguists, but the ALC is currently being considered for associate menbership..
European Committee For Normalization The ALC has worked with the CEN translation standard task force for over five years to create the recently published guideline of appropriate quality procedures for language service providers.
American Society for Testing and Materials The ALC has worked as an editor on the recently completed ASTM document offering consumers and providers a framework for agreement on translation project specifications to arrive at the desired level of quality.

Representation of the ALC at events of other organizations is by apppointment by the Committee Chair or ALC President and approved by the Board.
